Spring Colour
In amongst all the rain of the last month and the days starting to become longer far too slowly, colour started to poke it’s head above ground and I wanted to celebrate this. I researched around the area and found the dingle - a small planted garden in the centre of the Quarry park in the middle of Shrewsbury. It was my first visit and although I can imagine it would get much busier as the weather gets warmer I will definitely be returning.
The image above is the first image of a tree in blossom that I have managed to do a 180 view of and I was very pleased with it. The added bonus was the building in the background. I had to use less images than normal for this as I wanted the tree to be the star but not to be distracted by multiple layers of the building. It took a while to remove distractions and enhance the right colours but I think that I have made a very Spring like image.
The purples were out in abundance! Crocuses are a lovely little sign of Spring and there were plenty out so I wanted to try to get the carpet effect which I think has been mainly successful in my left hand image. I have 2 images one in focus and one unfocused in order to give it a bit of a dreamy look. With a little texture to bind it all together I think it looks more like a carpet! I may try this with bluebells later in the year.
In the middle the primroses were a double exposure of the flower and an unfocused macro of a purple primrose as well. Just to add to the mix there is a wall with lichen on it there as well. I rather like its abstract nature and I like the two flowers pointing in different directions.
The far right image has a couple of subtle texture layers just to smooth over the flowers and give a bit more of a dreamy look.
And then there were the yellows…
The left hand tulip is one focused and one unfocused which gives a dreamy look and I think it gives that beautiful flower rather an ethereal look.
The middle image is a single layer of primrose and daffodils with just a subtle texture to add to the wide open f stop I have used in the original picture.
On the right is a daff that I am rather proud of. It’s orientation gives a different angle to the norm and I think the layer of texture succeeds in giving all the focus to the beautiful yellow with a little peek of orange.
Below is my favourite crocus image. The colour was glorious and it was in enough space not to have to much of a distracting background but I added a texture (carpet from the British museum - obviously!) anyway which I just think softens it even more. Have you taken any Spring images that you have used multiple exposure for? Do let me know, I would love to see them!
